Jon Anderson

Jon Anderson was known to so many - as a business colleague, sportsman, and above all as a kind, generous friend and beloved family member. This fund was set up to honour his memory and to help support the institution that made his passing so very peaceful. Jon Anderson had a rich and happy life. From a tough upbringing he flourished at the Gordon Boys' School and went on to have a successful and very international period of service in the Royal Air Force. He married Linda in 1970 and went on to set up flourishing businesses in shipping, computing and haulage, the last of which still continues to thrive under the James Kemball name. He was a stalwart of the Walton & Kirton Badminton Club, first as a player and later as a committee member, vice captain and a mentor to many generations of younger players. Jon enjoyed a brief but happy retirement with Linda improving their lovely house and garden and his family were a great source of pride to him, including seeing his granddaughter Clementine grow into a happy and loving 6 year old. His last years were marked by a very long battle with cancer. This brought with it great physical incapacity and a number of inconveniences, all of which he bore with great courage, never complaining and always looking forward with optimism. He was privileged to spend his last days in the care of St Elizabeth Hospice, which provided faultless care and enabled him to pass away peacefully and comfortably with his family around him. We are setting up this tribute page so that St Elizabeth Hospice may continue to provide this outstanding care to many more families in future years.
